Energy Storage Services
Home battery systems that store your own power for outages and after-dark use — sized with a real load calculation, not a guess.
Store Your Own Power Instead of Losing It
Energy storage means putting a rechargeable battery system between your home and the grid. The battery charges when power is cheap or when your solar array is producing more than you are using, then discharges when the grid goes down or when rates climb. Unlike a generator, it holds no fuel, makes no noise, produces no exhaust, and switches over fast enough that most homeowners never see a light flicker.
Aspen Home Services designs, installs, and services battery storage for homes across Reno, Sparks, and Northern Nevada. Our electricians are licensed in Nevada under license #0094927, and we handle the whole job: the load study, the panel work, the permits, and the commissioning. When Battery Storage Is the Right Call
Storage is not the answer to every power problem, and we will tell you when it is not. It earns its place in a few specific situations.
You already have solar, or you are about to. Without a battery, everything your panels make beyond what you are using at that moment goes back to the grid. A battery captures that surplus so you can use it after sundown. If you are weighing panels, look at our solar services and plan both together rather than retrofitting later.
You want silent, automatic backup. A battery carries your critical circuits through the short outages that make up most grid interruptions, with no engine to start and no fuel to keep on hand.
Your outages are short but frequent. Wind events off the Sierra and public safety power shutoffs create exactly the kind of interruption a battery handles well.
You need something a generator cannot be. Batteries can sit indoors or in a garage, run without exhaust clearances, and stay silent through the night in a dense neighborhood.
Where Storage Falls Short
We would rather be straight with you than sell you the wrong system.
Multi-day outages. A battery holds a fixed number of kilowatt-hours. Without solar to recharge it, a typical home battery covers essential loads for roughly a day. If your risk is a multi-day winter outage, a standby generator is the stronger answer, and pairing the two is stronger still.
Whole-home backup on a small system. Backing up an entire house including electric heat, a well pump, and an AC compressor takes far more capacity than most people expect. Most systems are designed to carry a chosen set of critical circuits instead.
Undersized electrical service. Battery systems tie into your service equipment, and older 100-amp panels often lack the capacity or physical space. That is a real cost people miss, so we check it before quoting. Our panel services cover the upgrade when one is needed.
Guessed sizing. The most common failure we see is a system sized off a rough guess rather than a real load calculation. Run your own numbers first with our electrical load calculator.
How We Approach the Work
We start with a load calculation, not a product recommendation. We measure what your home actually draws, identify which circuits genuinely need to stay live, and size the system to that. Then we look at your service panel, your interconnection point, and where the equipment can legally and safely live.
From there we pull permits, coordinate the utility interconnection paperwork, install the battery and its transfer equipment, and commission the system under a simulated outage so you see it work before we leave. You get upfront flat-rate pricing, a $0 diagnostic fee, and a free estimate on the project.
We are a locally owned Reno-Sparks company, not a franchise, and our owner is a 30-year journeyman electrician. If the system does not perform the way we said it would, we come back and make it right.
Related Electrical Services
Storage rarely stands alone. Most projects touch a panel upgrade, connect to solar, or pair with a generator for long-outage coverage. Homes adding an EV charger often size storage and charging together, since both compete for the same service capacity. A safety inspection is a sensible starting point if your wiring has never been formally assessed.
