Electrical FAQ
Answered by Experts
Plain-language answers to the questions Reno and Sparks homeowners ask us most.
Pricing & Fees
Do you charge a diagnostic fee?
No. Aspen Home Services charges $0 for diagnostics. We assess your electrical issue at no cost, and you only pay once you approve the work.
How do you price electrical work?
We use upfront flat-rate pricing. Before any work begins, we give you a complete price — no hourly surprises, no hidden fees. You know exactly what you're paying before we start.
Are estimates free?
Yes — all estimates are free with no obligation. Call us or request service online and we'll assess your needs at no charge.
Scheduling & Availability
Can I get same-day electrical service?
In most cases, yes. We offer same-day service for most repairs as our schedule allows. For urgent situations, call our emergency line at (775) 238-6977.
What are your business hours?
We're available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Saturday appointments are available by request, and we maintain an emergency line for urgent electrical needs outside business hours.
Is emergency electrical service available?
Yes. For urgent electrical emergencies, call our dedicated emergency line at (775) 238-6977. We're available to handle situations that can't wait until business hours.
Licensing & Insurance
Are you licensed in Nevada?
Yes. Aspen Home Services holds Nevada electrical contractor license #0094927, held by owner Shawn O'Meara. All of our electricians are licensed for residential and commercial work.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry Commercial General Liability insurance ($1M per occurrence, $2M aggregate) and Commercial Auto insurance ($1M CSL). You're fully protected on every job.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. We handle all permit applications and inspections for the City of Reno, City of Sparks, and Washoe County. Permits are required for most panel work, new wiring, and installations — we manage the entire process so you don't have to.
Panel Upgrades
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Signs you may need a panel upgrade include frequently tripping breakers, flickering lights, a panel that's 20+ years old, adding a major appliance, planning an EV charger installation, or if your home still has a 60-amp or 100-amp panel. We'll assess it free of charge.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most residential panel upgrades take 4–8 hours depending on the scope. We handle the permit, inspection, and utility coordination — the whole process typically completes within a few days.
EV Chargers & Generators
What type of EV charger should I install at home?
We recommend a Level 2 (240V) home EV charger for most homeowners — it charges most vehicles fully overnight. We'll assess your panel capacity, recommend the right charger, and handle installation and permits.
What size generator do I need for my home?
The right generator size depends on which circuits you want to power during an outage — from essentials only to whole-home coverage. We'll help you size the unit, handle the transfer switch installation, and manage all permits.
Service Areas
What areas do you serve?
We serve Reno, Sparks, Sun Valley, Lemmon Valley, Golden Valley, Verdi, Black Springs, Reno-Stead, Wedekind, Raleigh Heights, Steamboat, and Carson City. Contact us if you're unsure whether we cover your area.
Do you serve both Reno and Sparks?
Yes — our office is in Sparks at 1030 Marietta Way, and we regularly serve customers throughout Reno, Sparks, and the surrounding Northern Nevada communities.
